Nose

Refining the nose

Many clients are less than happy with the shape or symmetry of their nose, or have noticed that the tip has drooped with age. Traditionally, surgical rhinoplasty (nose job) was the only option – but with expert use of dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections Dr James Willis can reshape and address irregularities in a far less invasive way.

This type of non-surgical nose reshaping holds significant benefits. There is no general anaesthetic, surgery or long recovery period. Results are optimum in just a couple of weeks and there’s no downtime or painful procedures. Just as importantly, the results are natural-looking and designed to complement other features and the entire face.*

Non-surgical nose reshaping

As we age, the tip of the nose starts to droop. This can be lifted and supported using an anti-wrinkle injection and a small amount of dermal filler. The width of nostrils is ideally the same as the distance between the inner corners of the eyes. For some clients, the nasal width is greater. This can be refined with micro anti-wrinkle injections. Irregularities in the line of the bridge of the nose can be straightened using dermal fillers.*

Similarly, asymmetries of the nose can be addressed. By using dermal fillers, we can reshape and contour the nose to achieve results that were previously only ever possible with plastic surgery.* Non-surgical nose reshaping is mainly suitable for those who need refinement of their nose shape – we cannot of course make a large nose smaller with this treatment.

The huge benefits of our non-surgical nose-reshaping treatment are that the procedure is quick and the results are natural and balanced without having to undergo any invasive surgery. It finally provides patients with a non-surgical option and has proven very popular with those who feel plastic surgery is not right for them.

Bunny lines

Not everyone gets bunny lines but they’re the small wrinkles that appear at the top of your nose when you wrinkle your nose, squint or frown. While the name might be cute, many people feel that bunny lines age their face. We can improve or even entirely smooth away their appearance using anti-wrinkle injections.*

Your questions answered

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are made from a protein that occurs naturally in bacterium. It relaxes facial muscles by interacting with nerve endings to prevent the release of the compound that triggers muscle contractions. This can help to lift a drooping nose tip, reduce nostril width and soften bunny lines and wrinkles.*

How long does the treatment take with Dr James Willis?

Your initial complimentary consultation with Dr James Willis is open ended but usually takes about half an hour. The actual anti-wrinkle injection treatment often takes less than 10 minutes.

If you’re a new client, we will usually invite you to return for a review after 2 weeks.

What improvements will I see after treatment?

It will take around 5 days to begin to see results such as lifting of the nasal tip or bunny lines appearing softer and less obvious. Improvements optimise after about a fortnight.*

How long will results last?

The effects of your treatment should last between 3 to 6 months, depending on your individual response. You may then need a top-up treatment. Subsequent treatments tend to last longer. Dr James Willis will talk through this during your free consultation.

Is the treatment painful?

No. The medication is injected in very small doses with an ultra-fine needle. It is mildly uncomfortable and doesn’t need any anaesthetic. However, some clients ask us to use a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) such as Emla cream. Dr James Willis is happy to do this if you prefer.

Will it leave my face frozen and without expression?

No. We assess the optimum dose to produce optimum results but you will still have facial expression and movement.

Are there any side effects?

Generally, no. Some clients experience slight bruising or swelling immediately after treatment. We will discuss this in detail with you at the time of your consultation.

Is there anything that I should or shouldn’t do after anti-wrinkle injection treatment?

You should avoid touching the treated area for a few hours. You will need to keep upright immediately after treatment and it is helpful to exercise the treated muscles during the first few hours. The dos and don’ts will be explained in detail during your assessment.

Can Dr James Willis combine anti-wrinkle injections and dermal-filler treatments?

Yes. Dr James Willis often provides an integrated treatment plan combining the 2 treatments. This is particularly true for non-surgical nose reshaping where anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are used together to lift the nasal tip.*

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are gels made from hyaluronic acid (a naturally-occurring substance that helps to maintain healthy skin). When injected they can help to replace lost volume, add contour and definition, smooth lines and wrinkles and restore a more youthful look. For non-surgical nose reshaping they can also improve symmetry and irregularities in the line of the bridge of the nose*

What happens to the dermal filler after it’s been injected?

Over time, the dermal filler will break down naturally and be reabsorbed by the body.

Which areas can Dr James Willis treat with dermal fillers?

This versatile treatment can be used for the following:

  1. Nose-to-mouth lines
  2. Lip contour and volume for plumper lips
  3. Marionette lines (from the corners of the mouth to the chin)
  4. Enhancing the cheeks
  5. Deeper glabella (frown) and forehead lines
  6. Crow’s feet around the eyes.
  7. Jawline refining
  8. Nose reshaping

How long does the treatment take?

It takes about 20 minutes depending on the area being treated.

What results will I see immediately after my dermal filler treatment?

The result is immediate with irregularities and asymmetries corrected.*

How long will the results last?

Results may last for 6 to 9 months depending on the product and the areas being treated. Subsequent treatments tend to last a little longer.* Dr James Willis will talk through this during your free consultation.

Is the treatment painful?

No, Dr James Willis is an expert in gentle injecting techniques. Some dermal fillers contain anaesthetic to reduce discomfort further still. For dermal-filler treatment around the lips and mouth, we tend to use local anaesthetic to completely numb the area. This is the same feeling that you would have with a dental anaesthetic.

Are there any side effects?

Initially, there is a little redness and swelling that usually subsides after 12 hours. You may experience some bruising, which subsides over time. These side effects are all quite normal.

What our clients say

  • “My nose looked quite crooked and I’d always felt self-conscious about it. I was amazed that it could be improved with dermal fillers – it was great news as I didn’t want to have a surgical nose job. I’m so pleased with the results. The doctor and his team have helped me feel so much more confident.”

    Alex Rogers

  • “I love the welcome I get a Falmouth Facial Aesthetics – it’s so friendly that I feel I can ask anything and will always get an honest reply. I didn’t think there was much that could be done for my bunny lines that seemed to be getting deeper every day. After anti-wrinkle injections with Dr James Willis I can barely see them. Wonderful.”
