What conditions can be treated with medical injections?
We can treat migraine, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), depression and teeth clenching (bruxism). Where there is muscle tension, we can relax it.* We do not provide a diagnosis for pain or causes of muscle tension. However we can provide a possible solution to ease the symptoms.
Do I need a referral to have medical injections?
No, Dr James Willis can prescribe the treatment once we have carried out an assessment. It is a safe and controlled medication for which we have over 20 years’ experience in the field. We can of course receive referrals from practitioners who are not able to provide medical injections.
What is hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating?
Normal sweating helps to keep the body’s temperature steady in hot weather, during a high temperature (fever), or when exercising. Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) means that you sweat much more than normal. Even when you are not hot, anxious, or exercising, you produce a lot of sweat.
Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a common problem that affects the underarms, face, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. It can be distressing and can have a serious impact on your life. In some cases, affected people avoid social contact with others because of embarrassment about the problem. However, the condition is usually treatable.
How do medical injections help?
The injections stop the nerves in the skin that control the sweat glands from working. Treatment consists of many small injections just under the skin in the affected areas
Are results permanent?
No, medical injections are a temporary solution. Treatment for excessive sweating lasts 141 days to 152 days according to the studies, although some clients report results lasting for around 7 months or longer.*
Do I need to continue with other therapies?
Yes. If you are already having treatment for muscle-tension, it is advisable to continue to do so. Pain control with medical injections is not always a complete cure but can ease symptoms dramatically.*
Do I need to change my medication?
At the consultation, we will go through a detailed medical history with you. This includes any drug interactions. There are no total drug contraindications, but there may be some medication doses that might need to be adjusted.
How much is a consultation?
We offer free consultations with no obligation. We can also carry out treatment at this same appointment should you wish to do so.
Are there any side effects?
Generally, no. Some clients experience slight bruising or swelling immediately after treatment. We will discuss this in detail with you at the time of your consultation.
*Individual results may vary.
